Train or road?
- By train: the fast Gatimaan Express links Delhi and Agra in under two hours. Check the current schedule and book ahead.
- By road: about three to four hours on the Yamuna Expressway by car or taxi, depending on traffic and stops.
What to see in Agra
- Taj Mahal — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is closed to visitors on Fridays, so plan around that. Check current official timings and ticket rules before you go.
- Agra Fort — the red-sandstone Mughal fort on the Yamuna, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Itimad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj, and Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra.
- Mehtab Bagh — a garden across the river with a view of the Taj Mahal.
- Fatehpur Sikri — the abandoned Mughal capital about 40 km from Agra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Best time to go
October to March is the most comfortable season, with cool mornings. Summers are very hot, and winter mornings can be foggy, which affects sunrise views and photos.
When a guide or photographer helps
A local guide explains the history, handles the queues and tickets, and combines the sights in the right order. A local photographer knows where the light is good and how to shoot around the crowds. On Myna24 you can book either by the hour or for the day, see free dates on a calendar, and pay a 10% booking fee online with the rest paid directly to them.
