Agra Fort

A red-sandstone Mughal fort on the Yamuna, about 2.5 km from the Taj Mahal. Akbar did the major construction from 1565; Shah Jahan later added marble buildings such as the Moti Masjid and the Diwan-i-Khas.

Itimad-ud-Daulah

Often called the Baby Taj, this marble tomb was built between 1622 and 1628 by Nur Jahan for her father, and is known for its fine inlay work.

Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra

About 10 km from central Agra, Akbar's tomb was completed in 1613 by his son Jahangir, with a gateway of four white marble minarets.

Fatehpur Sikri

About 40 km from Agra, Akbar built this red-sandstone city in the 1570s. It was his capital for only a short time. The Buland Darwaza and the tomb of Salim Chishti are its best-known sights.
